Modern, Creative Movement, Ballet, Skipping, Private Conditioning, Dance Therapy, Pre-Dance & Company   Jana Hamilton

Jana began her dance training in the small town of Tilbury, Ontario. She continued on to achieve a BFA (hon) specialized in Dance from York University in Toronto. While in Toronto, Jana experienced 
intensive workshops with the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Kaeja d’Dance, and Ballet Creole. She also had 
the opportunity to tour with the York Dance Ensemble working with choreographers such as Holly Small, Darcey
 Callison, Alex Cilic, and Peter Chin.

Upon receiving her BFA, Jana relocated to Alberta and now calls Leduc home.  Since moving to Alberta in 2000, Jana has trained
 with a variety of instructors from Mile Zero, Vibe Tribe, Isis Dance and the Edmonton School of Ballet. She has
 choreographed and performed solo work, groups and musicals, most recently choreographing parts of Sleeping Beauty with the Leduc Drama Society and co-choreographing an opening performance for a Harlem Globetrotters half-time show in Edmonton and the Alberta Summer Games in Leduc.   Jana also spent 7 years with the Leduc Figure Skating Club as the Off-Ice Training Co-ordinator.

Jana is passionate about dance and full body integration, continuing to build on her training and knowledge. She has completed training in all 11 levels of the Junior Preparatory Ballet and Progressions Ballet Syllabi. Jana has studied in New York and maintains a Level 2 in the Bill Evans Technique of Contemporary Dance, which is based in Laban Theory and Bartenieff Fundamental Movement Patterns. Mentored under the guidance of dance icon William Evans and master instructors Don Halquist, Debra Knapp & Suzie Lundgren.

With the influence of such diverse instructors, Jana has experienced many genres of dance such as ballet, modern in the styles of
 Graham, Limon, Cunningham, Duncan, Horton, and Evans, tap, jazz, classical East Indian, hip-hop, ballroom, tribal belly dance and 
National dance.   Jana has completed introductory certification in the BrainDance Method through GrowUp SmART.

Krystal adds 25 years of diverse dance experience to the CDL faculty.  Training in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Cheer.  Krystal’s excitement for dance is sure to motivate!  She has spent the past 14 years teaching in Edmonton and Leduc. Krystal developed and coached the Dance/Pom program for 5 years at Perfect Storm Athletics.  Krystal’s passion for dance fostered a Pom Team for an Edmonton High School for 10 years leading them to championship titles.

The former Edmonton Eskimos Cheer Team member has performed in 4 Grey Cup half time and pre-game shows, performing with artists including Salt n Pepa and Lenny Kravitz. After 4 years dancing with the Edmonton Eskimo Cheer Team Krystal continued on for 6 years as team manager.  Krystal was a co-director for WMBL Edmonton Prospects Cheer/Dance Team for 2 seasons.

Krystal is well travelled across North America having taken classes in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and South Carolina and has trained extensively with Professional dance teams from the NFL, NBA and other professional organizations.  Krystal is eager to share her training and performance experiences, which also include performing at Disneyland.

Her high intensity and drive for perfection will have every student striving to be their best.  Krystal has completed the introductory certification in the BrainDance Method through GrowUp SmART.

Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Accelerate Jazz

Cassie brings 25 years of versatile dance training to CDL. She began dancing at the age of 5 and has experience in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Cheer. Cassie was awarded the Most Promising Junior Dancer Award at her studio, which fueled her motivation to always strive for perfection.  Cassie has won numerous awards at local competitions including Junior Overall Runner Up High Score Award and an Intermediate Overall Adjudicators Choice Award.

Once joining the Edmonton Eskimos Cheer Team she performed in 4 Grey Cup half time shows along with pre-game shows. With the Edmonton Eskimos organization Cassie was given the opportunity to train with numerous professional teams from the NBA, NFL and top collegiate clubs. During this training Cassie was selected as a Runner Up Dance Star at the United Spirit Association camp in Los Angeles and then as part of the 2009 National Dance Alliance All American Team.

Cassie was the co-director and choreographer of the WMBL Edmonton Prospects Cheer/Dance team for 2 seasons. Cassie is excited to start the 2017/18 dance season and looking forward to passing on her knowledge and love for dance to each one of her students.

JoAnn was born and raised in Derwent Alberta, and has been training in dance since the age of three.  Training in Cecchetti ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, tap, and Ukrainian folk dance. JoAnn began her dance training in Vermilion Alberta, and has participated in many competitions and workshops. Since an early age JoAnn has had a love for teaching children in the art of dance. JoAnn has recently completed the Edmonton School of Ballet’s extensive Teacher’s Training Program, receiving her Associate Diploma with the Cecchetti Society of Canada.  JoAnn continues to develop her performance abilities training and travelling across North America as a member of the Cheremosh Ukranian Dance Company.

MAXWELL AGUILAR                              Maxwell

Latin Fusion

Maxwell Aguilar has been exposed to most Latin cultural music and dance since a young age when he lived in El Salvador. These dances included salsa, merenge, cumbia, and bachata. He started representing Edmonton, Alberta professionally in 2001 through performing, and teaching. He has performed, attended and taught many World Salsa Congresses in places such as, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Puerto Rico, Miami, Toronto, Calgary, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, San Francisco, as well as various functions in Edmonton. Maxwell has also participated in many competitions since he started his professional dance career.
Maxwell started his teaching career in Edmonton in year 2000 at Grant MacEwan College and then transferred to Latin Corner Dance Company to teach from 2002 to the end of 2007. At the start of year 2008 he founded his own school Unique Dance Company. He poses as the school’s teacher, performer, as well as the choreographer for the company’s student dance team. He has taught in various places throughout Canada, and the USA including Calgary at their 2nd Annual International Salsa Congress. In 2015 he travelled back to El Salvador to teach in their second International Congress.

CDL is excited to have Erin back to coach our Competitive Jump Rope Team,  the Connectivity Skippers.  Erin holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree as well as an MSc in Exercise Physiology. With 12 years as a certified personal trainer and Erin’s extensive background in competitive skating, both as an athlete and coach,  she brings a great strength to our program.  Erin’s vast knowledge of Long-Term Athlete Development and proper jump technique ensure longevity of our athlete’s performance.  Erin is also current the Vice President for Rope Skipping Canada.

Hip Hop Haley Myhre 1

Connectivity is excited to have Haley Myhre this year instructing our Hip Hop Program.  Haley has been assisting and teaching in the Edmonton and Sherwood Park areas for the past seven years. Haley has also trained in Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical, however Hip Hop is her speciality. Haley has travelled various places for her training, participating in Disney’s Magic Parade as well as competing at World of Dance where she received a 3rd place standing.  Haley is a former Edmonton Eskimos Cheerleader and is currently attending the U of A.
